性狀：鮮黃色結晶。由鏈霉菌Streptomyces tanashiensis或S.684號菌株培養液體中提取的抗生素。易溶于水、丙酮、醇、氯仿，微溶于苯。熔點為170～175℃（分解），對光不穩定，水溶液在冰箱中保存穩定
用途：生化研究。其作用機理是與DNA結合，抑制轉錄和蛋白合成，抑制RNA的合成，作用于細胞增殖各期。在MDR表現形中是Pgp的底物。在流式細胞計中用于熒光染色DNA。適合于檢測DNA。
