為什么雌蚊要吸血呢？原來，交尾后的雌蚊，若不吸血，卵是不能發育成熟的。雌蚊在交尾后，每吸一次血，就飛到水面上產一次卵。經過數次產卵，雌蚊便會Panbio登革熱。也有的雌蚊可在室內越冬。雄蚊的營養一般來自花蜜、植物汁液和露水等，它們的壽命很短，一般只有6～7天。大多數雄蚊在與雌蚊交尾后，很快就會Panbio登革熱。
