CX5120, CX5130 and CX5140 are Embedded PCs from the CX5100 series based on the In®Atom™ multi-core processors. They differ from one another in housing width and CPU type. What is new is that the available Atom™ CPUs now also introduce genuine multi-core technology, extending up to quad-core, into the compact Embedded PC segment. Since the new devices are an extension of the existing CX5000 series, they are equipped with identical hardware interfaces. Two independent Gigabit-capable Ethernet interfaces as well as four USB 2.0 and one DVI-I interface are available. A multitude of further connection options and gateway functions is created by the multi-option interface, which can be pre-equipped ex factory, as well as the I/O level, which can optionally consist of either E-Bus or K-Bus Terminals.
All devices in the series are characterised by low power consumption and fanless design.
Depending on the installed TwinCAT runtime environment, the CX5100 can be used for implementing PLC or PLC/Motion Control projects with or without visualisation. The execution of Motion Control applications with interpolating axis movements is also possible.
The extended operating temperature range from -25 to +60 °C enables the use of the CX5100 Embedded PCs in climatically demanding environments.
Like the CX5000, the CX5100 series has a compact design; a modular device with extension modules like in the CX2000 series is not available.

隨著 CX 系列嵌入式 PC 的推出，Beckhoff 將 PC 技術(shù)和 I/O 級模塊化技術(shù)相結(jié)合，構(gòu)成一種可以安裝于控制柜中的 DIN 導(dǎo)軌單元。該設(shè)備系列結(jié)合了工業(yè) PC 和硬件 PLC 環(huán)境，適用于中等規(guī)模的控制任務(wù)。可以根據(jù)現(xiàn)有任務(wù)對模塊化控制系統(tǒng)進(jìn)行配置，并將其安裝在控制柜或端子盒中。

除了多種型號(hào)的 CPU 之外，不同 CX型號(hào)的系統(tǒng)接口模塊和電源模塊也不同。通過相應(yīng)的 I/O接口，CX1030、CX1020、CX1010、CX9000 和 CX9010 既可連接 Beckhoff 總線端子模塊，也可以連接 EtherCAT 端子模塊作為 I/O 系統(tǒng)。
組件
CX 系列的系統(tǒng)模塊通過標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的 PC/104 總線（16 位）相互連接。每個(gè)系統(tǒng)組件都由寬度為 19 毫米（單模）或 38 毫米（雙模）的單個(gè)模塊構(gòu)成，這些模塊可以依次連接。CX1030、CX1020 和CX1010 的基本單元包括 CPU 模塊和電源模塊。CX9000 和 CX9010 系列則將 CPU 和電源集成于一體。根據(jù) CX 型號(hào)的不同，控制器可通過更多的系統(tǒng)接口加以擴(kuò)展。用于 PROFIBUS、CANopen、DeviceNet、SERCOS interface 和 Lightbus 的現(xiàn)場總線接口擴(kuò)充了可選模塊的種類，其中又分主站和從站接口。
軟件
結(jié)合 TwinCAT 自動(dòng)化軟件，CX 嵌入式 PC 成為一個(gè)功能強(qiáng)大的 IEC61131-3 PLC，它還可以操控運(yùn)動(dòng)控制任務(wù)。根據(jù)所需的周期時(shí)間不同，它可以控制多個(gè)伺服軸。CX1010、CX1020或 CX1030 甚至還可以實(shí)現(xiàn)特殊的功能，比如“飛鋸”、“電子齒輪箱”或“電子凸輪”等。CX 因而成為一個(gè)用單個(gè)硬件實(shí)現(xiàn) PLC、運(yùn)動(dòng)控制和可視化任務(wù)的控制器。在 Windows CE 平臺(tái)下，借助于操作系統(tǒng)的實(shí)時(shí)能力，以高級語言編寫的用戶任務(wù)可以在 TwinCAT 運(yùn)行的情況下實(shí)時(shí)得到處理。
應(yīng)用范圍廣
由于工業(yè) PC良好的設(shè)計(jì)和優(yōu)異的功能，嵌入式 PC 可以得到廣泛應(yīng)用。現(xiàn)有的應(yīng)用包括機(jī)械制造（自動(dòng)化鋸床、自動(dòng)裝配機(jī)、切紙機(jī)、旋鑿控制、包裝機(jī)、金屬板材加工、物流輸送設(shè)備）、過程工藝（水處理、發(fā)電、能耗監(jiān)測）、樓宇控制（寓所控制、門禁控制）等等。
自動(dòng)化標(biāo)準(zhǔn)
T采用 Beckhoff 總線端子后，可把控制柜和安裝端子的端子盒設(shè)計(jì)得更加經(jīng)濟(jì)。通過采用 4 線制端子系統(tǒng)，各種信號(hào)的傳感器和執(zhí)行機(jī)構(gòu)都可以直接連接，而無需其它連接系統(tǒng)。現(xiàn)場設(shè)備無需像以往那樣在控制柜（或端子盒）與控制器之間作點(diǎn)對點(diǎn)的連接，這樣可大大減少控制器的設(shè)計(jì)成本，節(jié)約空間、材料、工程量和資金。
現(xiàn)場設(shè)備可以通過 Beckhoff 總線端子系統(tǒng)在產(chǎn)生信號(hào)的現(xiàn)場進(jìn)行連接，因此對 Beckhoff 總線端子的安裝和布線就像標(biāo)準(zhǔn)端子排那樣簡易和緊湊。總線端子與控制器之間通過一個(gè)現(xiàn)場總線耦合器連接。
Beckhoff 總線端子已在許多領(lǐng)域得到了測試和驗(yàn)證，從機(jī)械制造到樓宇控制。采用 Beckhoff 總線端子，可使設(shè)計(jì)、基建、布線、調(diào)試安裝以及對系統(tǒng)和設(shè)備的維護(hù)和維修變得更加經(jīng)濟(jì)。
PC 現(xiàn)場總線接口卡
基于 PCI 的 PC 現(xiàn)場總線接口卡適用于 Lightbus、PROFIBUS、CAN¬open、DeviceNet、SERCOS 接口和以太網(wǎng)系統(tǒng)，該系列總線接口卡進(jìn)一步完善了 Beckhoff 現(xiàn)場總線組件產(chǎn)品，專為快速控制和實(shí)時(shí)任務(wù)（如驅(qū)動(dòng)器位置控制）而開發(fā)，因而得到廣泛的應(yīng)用。為了適應(yīng)不同的需求，接口卡都配有一個(gè)或兩個(gè)現(xiàn)場總線通道。以太網(wǎng)接口卡 FC9004 總共有 4 個(gè)通道。若將這種功能強(qiáng)大的 PC 現(xiàn)場總線接口卡與 TwinCAT 軟件 PLC 和 NC 結(jié)合起來，其功能優(yōu)勢是顯而易見的。這種智能化 PCI 接口卡是在其自身的處理器上高效處理現(xiàn)場總線協(xié)議，因此也可用于其它應(yīng)用場合。通過 DPRAM 接口可將過程映像傳送到 PC 上。TwinCAT I/O 軟件包可提供用于 Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista 的驅(qū)動(dòng)程序和配置工具。用高級語言編寫的程序采用的是 DLL（動(dòng)態(tài)連接庫），對 Visual Basic 應(yīng)用程序則可提供 ActiveX 接口。帶有 OPC 接口的應(yīng)用程序可以通過 OPC 服務(wù)器訪問過程數(shù)據(jù)和參數(shù)。

新型迷你 PCI 接口卡適用于 PROFIBUS、CANopen、DeviceNet、SERCOS 接口和以太網(wǎng)總線，延伸了 Beckhoff 的 PC 現(xiàn)場總線接口卡產(chǎn)品范圍。與 Beckhoff 標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的 PCI 接口卡一樣，這種接口非常適用于快速控制器和實(shí)時(shí)任務(wù)。
