隨著改革開放的深入和城鄉經濟的迅速發展,國家相關部門提出了對社會治安進行綜合治理的要求,并把創建安全文明小區作為其中的一項重要內容。
EPON以其組網方便、覆蓋面積大的優點在小區監控中得到大量應用。EPON支持點對多點通信,頭端OLT設備的1個PON可承載32個遠端ONU設備,且頭端OLT與遠端ONU之間為由分光器和光纖組成的無源光網絡,不需供電;如圖中所示,在監控機房配備OLT設備,OLT設備接入光纖后在小區中心地帶進行一級分光,分光器的各個支纖與光纖相連到達小區的不同區域,然后進行再次分光,分光器的多個支纖與光纖相連到達小區區域的各個樓棟,在樓棟接入ONU設備和IP攝像頭即可完成監控圖像到監控機房的傳輸,EPON的這種靈活組網方式不僅組網方便,覆蓋面積大,且擴容簡單,為整個監控項目的建設、維護提供極大的便利。
